Former US Vice President Joe Biden has received support of the required number of delegates from the Democratic Party and is officially becoming a candidate for president.
He needed the support of at least a 1991 delegate, and Biden stepped over this threshold following the primaries in seven states and the District of Columbia.
It is worth noting that this achievement is formal, since Biden has recently been the only candidate from his party. Democrats did everything to ensure that Biden did not have competitors. His last intra-party rival Bernie Sanders left the race back in April.
“It was an honor to compete alongside one of the most talented groups of candidates the Democratic party has ever fielded”, — Biden said in a statement, “and I am proud to say that we are going into this general election a united party”,
