The administration of US President Donald Trump has decided to reduce the number of Chinese citizens who are allowed to work in the American offices of Chinese state media. On Monday, March 2, reports Reuters.
The restriction will enter into force on March 13. It concerns employees of Xinhua News Agency, China Global Television Network, China Radio International and China Daily Distribution Corp.
“For many years, the PRC government has carried out tight surveillance, harassment and intimidation of American and other foreign journalists operating in China,” the US Secretary of State quoted Mike Pompeo as saying.
Beijing’s ambassador to the UN, Liu Jie, called the initiative by the US authorities inappropriate.
