The British Prime Minister intends to turn the United Kingdom into a prosperous country and the best place on Earth after leaving the EU in the coming decade. The head of the British government made a corresponding statement in the New Year’s greetings, published on Tuesday evening by the Prime Minister’s Office.
Johnson emphasized that with the year 2019, the uncertainty, bitterness and split in society that have reigned in the country over the past three years in connection with Brexit are leaving. Britain can now begin a new chapter in its history, revealing «the enormous potential of the British people», he said.
«The first item on my agenda is to fulfill the will of voters and withdraw us from the European Union», — the Prime Minister said.
“Now we have a new parliament, elected by the people to implement the national priorities, which ultimately will respect the referendum and implement Brexit”, — the statement said.
Johnson maintained his position on the Brexit timing, assuring Britain that Britain would exit the EU before the end of January.
“We started work immediately after the election. The necessary legislative acts have already begun to go through parliament, and as soon as the deputies return to Westminster, we will not waste time. In the end, we will regain control of our laws, borders, money and trade”, — he declared.
After the legislative implementation of Brexit, the British authorities will be able to proceed with the country’s priorities for the health system, education, infrastructure, migration issues, as well as safety and the environment.
Johnson noted that he wants to be prime minister for all citizens of the country, and not just for those who voted for him in the December 12 general election.
“I know that you love this country no less, simply because you voted for another party or wanted to stay in the EU. Moreover, I want to work with you as friends and equals, as we build the future that the United deserves Kingdom. So, let’s make the 2020s a decade of prosperity and opportunity together”, — he called on his citizens in his New Year’s greetings.
