At least five people were injured in riots during a Kurdish protest in the German city of Hearne, North Rhine-Westphalia, including two in a clash with Turks, local police said.
The demonstration took place the night before. About 350 people took part in it, mainly Kurds. When the protesters walked past the bar, unidentified visitors to the establishment showed them with their hands gestures that provoked the Kurds to attack. Two visitors to the bar were injured, the window was broken.
The protesters continued on their way, but when they passed a Turkish cafe, someone threw a bottle in their direction.
“This was followed by a very emotional and angry reaction. Many of the protesters attacked the cafe. During this, according to the information currently available, the furniture and the window in the store were damaged. At least one person in the cafe was injured. Also, when trying to intervene, he received injuries to a police officer», — a police press release said.
The police managed to resolve the situation. The demonstration continued on its way to the end point of the action, where it ended according to plan.
Another man was injured in the riots, police said.
«One of the demonstrators was struck in the face by the organizer of the rally when he tried to reassure individuals», — police added.
